The Dance Company is a professional studio offering superior technical training for dancers of all ages and all levels in ballet, pre-ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and creative dance. Under the leadership of the director, Dixie Clegg, the faculty consists of qualified professionals who master the art of teaching dance technique. Dixie performed with Utah Civic Ballet, in Los Angeles theater and television, and has taught ballet for over 30 years. The Dance Company continually receives rave reviews for its impeccable concerts performed bi-annually, and choreographed class demonstrations during the alternate year. The Dance Company sets itself apart from other studios with classes and performances created tastefully with age-appropriate music, themes and modest costumes and uniforms. Dixie Stallings Clegg, Artistic Director
Dixie began her formal ballet training under Ballet West founder Willam F. Christensen at the age of nine and went on to attend the University of Utah as a ballet major. During her four years at the university she danced with the Utah Civic Ballet (now Ballet West) in all of their productions including "Romeo and Juliet," "Nothin' Doin' Bar," "Swan Lake," "Serenade," "Con Amore," "Nutcracker," and others. She studied with Mr. "C," Gordon Paxman, and Bene Arnold. After receiving her BFA degree in Ballet, she taught university ballet classes as a Ballet Department Associate. Dixie played Rosalia, a leading dancer-singer role in "West Side Story" and has performed in many other musical theatre productions including "Funny Girl," "Half-a-Sixpence," "Kismet," "Aida," and "Manon." She danced with the Jimmy Durante Variety Show for theatre-in-the-round in Utah and California. In Los Angeles she continued professionally as a dancer-singer in the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera production of "My Fair Lady," and performed as a regular on the Dean Martin Television Show for a season. She also met the troops in Vietnam on a USO tour. Dixie is a member of Actors Equity, AGVA, AFTRA and Utah Ballet Teachers Association. For over 30 years she has taught ballet as director of the Dixie Stallings School of Ballet and The Dance Company.
